The National Industrial Court’s judgment ordering its members to cease the seven-month-old strike has been appealed, according to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which has stated it is prepared to do so.
The union encouraged its members to maintain calm in a statement released on Wednesday and signed by the chairman of the Lagos Zone.
The union claimed that its attorney had already started an appeal.
Part of the statement states, “Our Comrade President, Comrade Victor Osodeke, has asked members of our Great Union to maintain calm as the back to work order sent earlier today presents no cause for concern.”
Our attorney is requesting a stay of the judgment’s execution and launching an appeal. Members should maintain their strength and resolve. A united people can never be defeated. Solidarity without compromise.”
